Honey, I'm Home!

Hey everyone. Good news! I've been gone for so long, but now, I'm back!

That's right, I'm back. Back in Toronto. Back to civilization. Back to friends and family. Back to school. It's all coming back to me now (does anyone else hear Celine Dion?). I've been around the world and back. Since the last time I posted (which was in June, and my god I've missed you all so much), I have been to Victoria, San Francisco, Sydney, Melbourne, Cairns, Darwin, Auckland, and Las Vegas. I have seen kangaroos and koalas and casinos. I've had the most amazing summer of my life. And now I have so much to catch up on. I have to tell you all about my trip, of course. And I have to rave about all the fantastic books I read this summer. And I have talk about my newly acquired Jate obsession. But first, I must, must, must, discuss the epicness that was sunday night, especially the epicness which was this moment:

Of course, the highlight of the night was this moment, one which I will cherish for the rest of my life:

I've talked before about my absolute love for Jim Parsons. And man, did I love him on sunday. He was so happy! And he so deserved to win. Don't agree with me? Just watch this clip and this clip. Nothing more can be said. There are no words to describe how excited I was when his name was announced. The only way I can think to express it is like this:

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
(and on, and on, and on, into oblivion)

I am just so happy. And so excited for the new season of Big Bang. And, there were many other high points in the night. I agree with everyone who thinks Ricky Gervais stole the show (to be fair, he had a lot to work with--Bucky Gunts!). And I loved Jimmy Fallon's shows-we-lost tribute, especially the Green Day/Lost part at the end. And yes, the Twitter thing was dumb (I don't really understand Twitter in the first place) and some of the presenters were really awkward. But it didn't matter. Because the Modern Family clip was great. And George Clooney's speech was so sweet. And so of my favourite actors won awards. For example, this amazing lady took home a statue. And Eric Stonestreet won, which I loved, since he is my favourite guy on Modern Family.

Inevitably, though, there were some disappointments. Lost was shut out, and since I don't watch Mad Men/Breaking Bad/The Closer/The Good Wife, the whole drama part of the show became really boring for me. And I really didn't want Edie Falco to win. And as much as I love Neil Patrick Harris (And I mean LOVE him), I would rather that Mike O'Malley had won for guest actor. It would have been so great if he could go from such a loser show as Yes, Dear, to winning an Emmy. That would have been nice. It also would have been nice to see his on screen son take home the supporting acting statue, but as I said, I do like me some Eric Stonestreet.

So, all in all, very, VERY happy with this year's Emmys. It was funny and surprising (in a good way!) and simply a good piece of entertainment. Best award show in years, in my opinion (oh, I so want to go on a side rant right now about the idiots who use IMHO (in my humble opinion) incorrectly. But, alas, that would be random and slightly irrelevant. Sigh).

Next, in the world of entertainment, is the new fall line up. We have crazy things happening. Big Bang Theory is moving to thursday night, battling against Community, which is very sad, because Big Bang will most likely crush Community, the little show that could. I love both shows, so I don't like to see one hurt the other. And I love Joel McHale (and Alison Brie, but, never, ever, Chevy Chase). Also, on top of that, we got a bunch of new pilots. Generally, I don't watch new shows right away. I wait a few months, talk to my friends, and read lots of reviews before adding any new shows to my line up. I'm just too lazy to watch stuff I'm not familiar with.

I'll go into more depth about all the fall premieres in a post later this week, but for now I'm signing off. I have some unpacking and cleaning to do, and then it's out for dinner with the family to celebrate my reunion with civilization. Don't worry, though. I won't leave you again. In the coming days I'll be talking about all the cool stuff I learned about Australia, and all the disgusting stuff I saw in Vegas. I'll be talking about my love for Sayid and Sun and my hatred for Michael and Matthew Fox. Check back soon!
